Here's a simple checklist to guide you through the year.

☀️ Summer (December – February)

  • Cooling: Clean air conditioner filters for efficiency and air quality.
  • Outdoor Living: · Outdoor Living: Clean the BBQ, check decks and pergolas for any loose boards or rot, and wash down outdoor furniture.
  • Pest Control: Check for signs of summer pests like ants and cockroaches and take action if needed.
  • Gardens: Water gardens early in the morning, add mulch to retain moisture, and keep lawns tidy.

🍂 Autumn (March – May)

  • Gutters & Drains: This is the most important job of the season! Clear all gutters and downpipes of leaves and debris before the winter rains set in to prevent blockages and water damage.
  • Windows & Doors: Check for drafts around windows and doors and seal any gaps to keep the warmth in for winter.
  • Heating: If you have gas heating or a fireplace, get it professionally serviced to ensure it's safe and ready for winter.
  • Smoke Alarms: Test all smoke alarms and replace the batteries.

  • Roofing: After heavy rain, check ceilings for any signs of water stains that could indicate a roof leak.
  • Trees & Branches: Prune any large branches that are overhanging the house, as they can cause damage during winter storms.
  • Dampness & Mould: Check inside wardrobes and behind furniture for any signs of mould or mildew and address any ventilation issues.
  • Hot Water System: Check for any leaks or rust on your hot water system.

🌷 Spring (September – November)

  • The Big Clean: Spring clean the entire house, including washing windows, cleaning carpets, and decluttering.
  • Exterior Walls: Pressure wash exterior walls, paths, and driveways to remove winter grime and mould.
  • Gardening: Fertilise the lawn, prune back plants to encourage new growth, and check garden irrigation systems.
  • Fly Screens: Check all window and door screens for tears and repair them before the summer insects arrive.
